Healthy Skin Basics

  • Sun protection. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, seek shade between 10 AM and 4 PM, and wear UPF-rated clothing.
  • Self-exams. Examine your skin head-to-toe once a month. Watch for new, changing, or unusual moles (the ABCDEs: Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, Evolving).
  • Annual skin checks. See a board-certified dermatologist annually — more often if you have a personal or family history of skin cancer.
  • Moisturize and gentle care. Use fragrance-free moisturizer, avoid hot showers, and pat skin dry to support the skin barrier.
