Eligibility

Membership is open to any physician who devotes his or her practice to dermatology and who practices or resides on Long Island.

What Members Receive

Education & CME

  • Four CME-accredited dinner meetings per year at Westbury Manor, with featured lectures from national experts
  • Case-report and resident presentations from SUNY Stony Brook, St. John's Episcopal, and Northwell training programs
  • Opportunities to present your own cases and lecture topics

Peer support for the business of dermatology

  • Informal consultation on tough clinical cases across general, surgical, pediatric, cosmetic, and dermatopathology subspecialties
  • Shared experience navigating billing, coding, prior-authorization, and payer-policy changes on Long Island
  • Insight into local hiring, staffing, EHR, and practice-management norms

Advocacy & representation

  • A collective Long Island voice within the American Academy of Dermatology and the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery
  • Coordinated response to state legislation and regional payer policies affecting dermatology
  • Liaison with Long Island hospital systems and county health departments

How to Apply

The LIDS Membership Application process consists of the following steps:

  1. Complete the LIDS Application Form — please take a moment to fill out the LIDS Application Form so we have your most updated information.
  2. Obtain two letters of recommendation — request that two current active LIDS members submit Letters of Recommendation on your behalf via email to LongIslandDermSociety@gmail.com.
  3. Your application will be voted on by the membership at the next scheduled meeting.
  4. Upon approval, pay the annual dues to activate your membership — see Pay Dues.
Annual dues: $300. A late fee may be applied to dues paid after the spring meeting. See Pay Dues for payment options.

Residents from SUNY Stony Brook, St. John's Episcopal Hospital, and the Northwell Health Program are welcome to attend LIDS meetings as guests; full membership becomes available upon completion of training and entry into Long Island practice.
