Privacy
How this website handles the information it collects, and the choices you have. The short version: no advertising, no sale of personal information, and no tracking cookies.
The Short Version
- We run no advertising, and we never sell or share personal information for advertising. There is no "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, as state privacy laws use those terms, for you to opt out of.
- We set no tracking cookies. Our analytics tool counts visits without cookies or personal identifiers, and it is not loaded at all when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
- Information you give us through our forms is used only for Society business: reviewing membership applications, organizing dinner meetings, keeping the member roster, and emailing members.
What We Collect, and Why
Visiting the site
- Analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service, to count page views and a handful of button clicks in aggregate (for example, how many visitors clicked through to a public-comment campaign). It uses no cookies and stores no personal identifiers. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, the analytics script is never loaded.
- Hosting logs. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and operations under its own privacy statement.
- Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google's servers receive your browser's request, including your IP address, when a page loads. Google states that it does not set cookies on these requests.
- Accessibility preferences. The text size, contrast, and motion settings in the accessibility widget are saved in your own browser's local storage. They never leave your device.
Contacting us
If you email info@lidermsociety.org, your message and address are used only to respond to you and are shared within the Society only as needed to do that.
Applying for membership
The membership application is a Google Form. What you enter (your name, degree, practice details, and contact information) is stored in the Society's roster, a Google Sheet, and used to review your application. If you are accepted, the same record becomes your membership record and is used to send member email. Letters of recommendation arrive by email and are kept with your application.
RSVPing for a meeting
The RSVP form asks for your name, email address, dietary needs, and whether you will attend. We use this for the headcount and to plan the meal, and we keep a record of who attended each meeting. Dietary answers are used only to plan the meal and for nothing else. Physicians who are not yet members may be contacted after a meeting about joining the Society.
The form is provided by Google Forms and appears on our RSVP page inside an embedded frame. Google sets its own cookies within that frame under Google's privacy policy. The RSVP page also offers a link to open the form on Google's site instead.
Paying dues
Dues are paid by check or Zelle, outside this website. The site never collects card or bank details. The Society records only that a payment was received and the season it covers.
The member directory
A member appears in the public directory only after choosing to be listed. A listing shows professional details only: name, degree, practice, office address, phone, fax, website, booking link, NPI number, board certifications, subspecialties, languages, and equipment. These are the same practice details physicians already publish elsewhere, such as the CMS NPI Registry. Home addresses, personal email addresses, and membership status are never published. Members can change or remove their listing at any time through the member portal or by emailing us.
The member portal
Members sign in to edit their own listing with a short-lived link sent to the email address on file; there is no password. Links expire after a short time. Changes save directly to the Society's roster.
Email from the Society
We send meeting reminders, meeting minutes, dues notices, and occasional membership invitations through Brevo, an email service. Every message includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the emails and does not affect your membership. Prospective and former members who have attended a meeting or applied to join may receive invitations to join and can unsubscribe the same way.
Service Providers
These companies process data on our behalf, only to provide their service to us, and each under its own privacy policy:
- Google: Forms, Sheets, and Apps Script for the roster and forms, Google Fonts, and delivery of member-portal sign-in links.
- Brevo: member email.
- Plausible: cookieless analytics.
- GitHub: website hosting.
Sharing
We never sell personal information and never share it for advertising. Information is shared only with the providers above, with the Society's officers and administrators who need it, with the meeting venue for a headcount and meal planning, and when required by law.
Your Choices
- Analytics. Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or privacy extension, and the analytics script will not load.
- Email. Use the unsubscribe link in any message from us.
- Directory listing. Edit or remove it through the member portal, or email us.
- Access, correction, or deletion. Email info@lidermsociety.org and we will respond within 30 days. Records the Society must keep for its own governance, such as meeting minutes and membership votes, may be retained.
Children
This site is for physicians and other adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
